TW10 Bus Service
On the 23 April 2019 Go-Coaches, who operate the TW10 bus, withdrew the service that covers the route from Addington to Tunbridge Wells. Since then students from Addington and Trottiscliffe have either had to make their own travel arrangements or catch buses from Wrotham, Borough Green or Wrotham Heath. The Nu-Venture 558 service takes students from Addington to The Vineyard but then they have to alight at the Vineyard, cross the busy A20 (in the dark in the winter months), and then board the Go-Coach TW10 bus. Since the deregulation of the bus service KCC only have an obligation to ensure that pupils have transport to their nearest school meaning bus operators can stop running services that are not financially viable.
The Parish Council has been lobbying KCC to reinstate the service or come up with a better solution but have still not reached a satisfactory conclusion. With a growing pressure on the number of secondary school places available in Maidstone for the children in our village the reintroduction of this service is even more important. Members have now decided to appoint an engineer who is collating data for a report to support a reinstatement of the original TW10 bus service or an alternative solution. If you are able to provide any information that could support our proposal please do get in touch with the Clerk.
