Addington gets a bit greener

Solar panels

Addington village hall has recently installed solar panels. This was achieved using a significant part of the halls reserves and a grant from the parish council. The hall committee used the ‘Solar Together’ scheme promoted by TMBC to have 40 photovoltaic panels installed on the hall roof. The panels have the ability to produce around 16,000 kwh per year.

This output and the use of storage batteries, purchased as part of the package, will dramatically reduce the halls running costs and significantly reduce its carbon footprint. The anticipated payback period is less than 10 years with the panels having a life expectancy of 25 years.

This is just part of a package of measures the hall committee have made to reduce our cost base and environmental impact.
