KALC Community Award Scheme 2021

Joan Scott and Audrey Reeves collecting their KALC award 2021

Kent Association of Local Councils annually give local councils the opportunity to recognise someone who they believe has contributed to community life.

At the last Parish Council meeting Patricia Garrett, Chairman, presented the Awards for both 2019 and 2020.  Cllr. Garrett explained that Addington has been very fortunate to have had two lovely ladies who are and were the epitome of being involved in the community.

Joan Scott lived in Addington, most of her life. Always looking out for others alongside bringing up a large family. 45 years as a member of the Village Hall Committee and almost as many years as Church Warden. Many of the Scott family have been synonymous with engaging in village life.  Sadly, Joan has passed away but Gill and Nick came along to collect the award representing the family.

Audrey Reeves, another Village Hall Committee Member for many years and together with Diane Laite, helped to organise the annual Addington and Trottiscliffe Flower and Produce Show. Also, with her husband she was one of the many people who delivered the local Church magazine. Audrey helped to run a monthly ‘Derby and Joan Club’ providing transport, afternoon teas, games and a raffle, giving senior people the opportunity to socialise.

Many thanks to Joan and Audrey for being part of Addington’s community life.
